Taurus, the second sign of the zodiac and by far the most stubborn and driven… this sign is all about the reward.

This was an interesting one for me because I am a Taurus and let me just tell you that after reviewing all the information out there this is hands down me to a T. Typical Taureans love the rewards they reap after the hard slog. From physical pleasures and material goods, those born under this sign revel in surrounding themselves with beauty. Not only is this zodiac sign attracted to things that are visually pleasing, but they are also very tactile and physical in the sense of giving and receiving affection…. enjoying a tender touch, a sensual kiss and all that comes before and after that. (wink wink)

Continuing along these lines, Taurus personalities are also huge fans of a good meal and a glass of fine wine. The good life in all its shapes and forms, whether it be the creation of another or creations of their own making (yes, these folks are artistic as well), equates to heaven on Earth to the Taurus born.

Human connection to the constellation of Taurus dates back to the early Bronze Age. The sign of the Bull’s position in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere has been used by many ancient cultures for timekeeping to signal the original Spring Equinox. Taurus has been associated with blessing agriculture and has marked the time to plough and plant vital crops for worshipping cultures such as Babylon, Greece and Rome. Taureans are also represented by the magical and mythological White Bull with which Zeus was said to transform himself into so that he could woo princess Europa and carry her across the Mediterranean Sea to the island of Crete. It is there that legend has it, they conceived a son named Minos “The Good King”, who successfully ruled over Crete for many generations.

As far as Astrology goes, the planet of love, Venus, was assigned rulership of Taurus. Taurus was thought to be the nocturnal/night home of Venus, a generous and pleasure-loving earth sign that allows Venus to harness and materialize all of her earthly gifts and commissions. Among these are things such as…. affection, attraction, good food and drink, beautiful artifacts and furnishings, and other artistic treasures.
Due to this, Taureans are very likely be drawn to creating, accumulating, and enjoying these Venusian gifts. They will also be likely to hold tremendous patience and a dedicated drive when it comes to their relationships, careers and creative endeavours. Determination to reach goals and acquire rewards come naturally to the Bull.

Taurus is one of three earth signs in the zodiac, holding tightly the elemental energy of endurance and stability. The time of Taurus begins in the middle of Spring, when the season is most “fixed” and established, lending to the grounded, immovable, and somewhat rooted tendencies of this particular sign. Harnessing the element of earth, the heaviest and most solid element of them all, means that the Bull, along with Capricorn and Virgo, embody the very structure that all of nature is built out of and upon, and without it nothing could take a material form. Taurus’s well renowned nature for being methodical, patient, steadfast and dependable are all linked to this solid foundation and deep connection to the earth element.

Taureans could confidently wear the label of   “builders and creators of the zodiac”, facilitating material abundance and all that is beautiful, nourishing and/ or pleasurable in life. Ringing true to sensual Venus, the Taurus energy is one of feminine strength, and of yin qualities, making this sign akin to the connection we have around inner awareness, our deep thoughts and physical chemistry. Alive in both Taurus women and Taurus men, those born with the sign of the Bull as their rising, sun, or moon sign have both a softness and strength about them that they carry throughout their life. They are sustainers, nurturers and loyal lovers and friends… they can be fair and forgiving but cross a line and watch them charge full steam ahead, head down and horns sharpened. Basically, you do not want to piss one of these guys off!!

The primary strengths of these guys lie in their patience, resourcefulness, productivity and determination. Peaceful and receptive, Taureans are huge fans of some good old fashioned common sense and they often think concretely and very practically……they carefully consider options, behaviours and their words before moving forward with them. The bull seldom needs to learn the same lesson twice, so repeating mistakes is a rarity, and their ability to absorb new skills and knowledge makes both new endeavours and or studying a good fit.
With Venus as such a pivotal influence in their lives, Bulls are naturally connected to the beauty of the earth, and the sensuality of their own bodies…. They love giving and receiving physical affection and they love to enjoy and preserve nature, feeling rebalanced and recharged after spending time outdoors. Although they love receiving, giving gifts is a favourite activity for the sweet and sentimental Bull, who generously showers their friends and lovers with beautiful gifts and thoughtful little deeds. Loyal, almost to a fault, scoring one of the Taurus folk as a lover, friend, relative or parent is like winning a lottery ticket, they will protect, nurture and bring beauty into the lives of those they love.

Now that we have blown well warranted smoke up the butts of the Bull, let’s bring it down a peg by acknowledging that, like all zodiac signs (and human beings), there are weaknesses. Though patient, and peaceful, this can lead to these natives being somewhat complacent at times, making them vulnerable to getting stuck in a rut, feeling unmotivated and uninspired. Due to such a huge fix to the earth, Bulls can face chance with reluctancy, keeping them rooted in their ways and mindset in a way that stunts growth and opportunity. Though not particularly vengeful, Taureans have a sharp and lengthy memory, rarely forgetting mistakes, this can see offenders working hard for a long period of time to win back a Bull’s trust, or to shift the mindset of the Bull they have wronged. While this ensures that Bulls are not taken advantage of, holding onto the hurt and mistakes caused by others can negatively impact anyone where pace of mind is concerned. There comes a time when you need to let go of “stuff” and this can be a struggle for Taureans.

The Taurus mantra: I have, and I will is all about materializing and stabilizing, about gifting structure and dependability, and about nurturing their relationships with fellow humans and with their communities. It is also linked to a sense of personal power, of achievement and the almighty reward we mentioned early on.

Taurus people tend to be drawn to any pursuit where they can establish, build, and complete a goal set for them or set by them, but in order to do this the Taurus must find passion within the process or at least be passionate about the outcome. Their ability to bring vision into a materialized, tangible form is next to none which is why they thrive in jobs requiring creativity, freedom and a sense of achievement or purpose. It is in the setting of inspiration and creation that the Bull best thrives…. and it is where the “I have, and I will” plays out at it’s finest.

Each of us have Taurus somewhere in our birth chart. This means that we can look to the house of the Bull in order to find the specific areas in our life that we approach in a determined, steadfast way…… or where perhaps we need to look in order to call in the Bull’s energy to master the way we put our heads down, the direction we point out horns and the speed and determination with which we charge toward our goals and dreams.
